we enjoyed the peace and quiet, the scenery was a added bonus, the staff very friendly, all in all a very lovely stay, will more than likely stay there again if in the area.
not one complaint we can think of.
The location and views from the room and setting of hotel.
I didn't think our room was worth 150 pounds per night.
Beautifuls grounds, proximity to Snowdonia
Dinner rather expensive , or maybe dollar just weak
Attentive but unintrusive staff. Pleasant situation away from busy village.Great hotel for a relaxing break.
The staff at the hotel were extremely kind & very helpful. We had nice conversations with several members of staff and the person at the check- in desk was great in helping us with information about the area. These are the things that make a holiday enjoyable and the staff at this hotel definitely played their part in making our weekend special. The gardens are very pretty and the location is very convenient for reaching Snowdon.
The hotel looks very grand in the pictures (which is why we chose it) but in fact it has a slightly "tired" feel to it, as if it has seen better days. It could use a face-lift in several areas and definitely needs an injection of style! The location also looks fantastic along the river, but in reality it is very close to a busy road (actually two busy roads) so if you expect to sit on the terrace and listen to the sounds of nature you will be disappointed. The rooms are well soundproofed however, so in the room you didn't hear the road, but our room was located over a generator or something and there was noise from this all night (not very bad, but a bit annoying). The standard rooms are also quite small and if you want one of the bigger rooms, one with a view of the river or a terrace, you have to pay a lot more. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and didn't think this was very good value for money.
Excellent service, hospitality, Resteraunt and food top of the range.....Massive compliments to the chef and bar/resteraunt staff....(Marie waitress and barman at dinner 31/05/2011)
Beutifully renovated room, stayed in room 10........... in order to keep up the standard, small details must be addressed: tv channels freezing, chipped/cracked crockery, bathroom mirror cord, .......important that management stay on the ball in order to collect 100% review....£150 A night for this particular room a little bit pricey compared to other hotels around the country I've stayed in but, otherwise delightful experience. The Hotel has everything it takes to be up there with the best, if they stay hot with interior housekeeping and maintanance. Staff however, made up for any minor blips during my stay....Gorgeous!!!!
Quiet ambience with my room overlooking the river. High quality cuisine.
The staff were so lovely nothing was an effort they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Food was amazing and the view from our room no 17 was spectacular. We had a lovely weekend
Room 16, Hotel has no lift. Room has no opening widow, only a patio door, and felt stuffy at times. leaving the patio door open allowed in fly as there was no protective screne. No shelf in the shower. Wash basin drained slowly
Very welcoming, friendly and comfortable as usual, have stayed here four times before. The food was excellent, would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.
The food and service were second to none. The chef's love of his cooking skills showed at eevery meal.
Lake of big cosy chairs in the lounge to sit in and enjoy a pot of tea. Also no newspapers to pick at.
Very welcoming staff, excellent food and a great location for walking. I will definately book again
Very comfortable room, excellent food and wine, attentive service.
Very nice location set away from the main road with pretty gardens to sit out in on an evening
The restaurant which had an AA rosette was disappointing as the food was over cooked and quite tasteless. This was fed back to the bar waiter when he asked but we heard nothing further. The first time in a restaurant the table waiter hsn't enquired whether everything was ok with the food - perhaps he knew the answer.
The room was of the finest quality. It appeared to have been recently decorated and was extremely comfortable and aesthetically very pleasing.
Both my husband and I were disappointed with the quality of our bar meals. I ate lasagne - a favourite of mine - which is very easy to 'get completely right'. My husband ordered fish cakes (the salmon fishcakes were no longer available so he was offered crab cakes. His word to describe the food was 'average'. Returning the food would not have improved the quality. It seemed uninspirational and not in keeping with the general level and quality of the hotel.
